Cageiana

Primopiano_john_cage Every now and then one receives a news release that actually is news, like this one: LIBRARY ADDS RARE JOHN CAGE SCORE TO ITS RICH COLLECTION. Northwestern University is now in possession of John Cage's score with hand-written revisions of the prepared-piano piece Daughters of the Lonesome Isle. The 1945 work precedes the Sonatas and Interludes by a year, with a gamelan tinge to it.

Margaret Leng Tan has, of course, recorded it, and an mp3 excerpt from her New Albion recording can be found here.
